A letter to my husband

A few months ago I wrote a post about why my husband was going to be a great dad and I thought I would give you an update. Here is the update: He is.

Becoming a parent alongside him has been one of the most encouraging and empowering things that have ever happened to me in my life. His joy when he sees an Asa smile lights up my world (as if the Asa smile didn't do that enough already), his attentiveness to Asa's needs, and his willingness to try all the crazy parenting stuff that I throw at him is just the beginning of this man's greatness. Sometimes when I am working in the kitchen or in another room, I can hear Josh talking away with Asa and it is so precious. Hearing him squeal when things get a bit shiest-y while changing our baby is heartwarming and hilarious. Even though our son's diaper was the very first diaper he ever changed, his dedication to learning about being a parent is shown in his daily actions, and his dedication to being a loving husband even more so. So here is my little letter to Josh:

Dear Josh,
Thank you for starting this journey in parenthood with me.
Thank you for being right by my side as Asa came into the world.
Thank you for changing all of his meconium diapers.
Thank you for burping and changing him in the middle of the night.
Thank you for all the special moments that we have as a family.
Thank you for making sure I know that you are here to help me.

Thank you for making sure that I have time for myself and my friendships.
Thank you for loving and supporting me throughout all of these life changes.
Thank you for working so diligently in your craft to provide for us.

Thanks for being silly, talking in your sleep, and for your dashing good looks.
I don't want to do this life without you and am so thankful that you are by my side.
I can't wait to watch you grow as a father and husband in the years to come.
You are doing a great job and I am proud of you.

Love,
Sunshine
